Each conversation has space for 2–4 learners. A conversation is confirmed when two learners have booked.

Before the conversation, you’ll receive a short Conversation Preview with the topic, several core questions and explanations of any expressions that may be unclear.
The preview helps you understand what the questions mean. It does not give you answers or tell you what opinion to have.
Already comfortable discussing the topic? A quick look at the overview and questions may be all you need.
Want more time to organise your Mandarin? Review the language notes, choose one or two questions and bring a few keywords or short notes.
Both are completely fine. There is no need to prepare every question, write a complete answer or memorise a script.
Some learners prefer to speak spontaneously. Others feel more confident with a little preparation. Both are welcome. The preview helps you understand the topic and organise your thoughts—it does not give you a script for the conversation.
Every conversation develops naturally, but most sessions follow a simple structure.
The host welcomes everyone, introduces the topic in clear Mandarin and makes sure the group understands the main question.
The conversation begins with an accessible question about your own experience, preference or observation.
The host builds on what members actually say, introduces deeper questions and invites people to respond to one another. These follow-up questions are not all shared in advance, so the conversation can develop naturally.
Members share final thoughts, and the host may briefly clarify a few useful expressions that came up during the discussion.
The exact flow depends on the group. It is a real conversation, not a scripted lesson.

A native Mandarin speaker based in China who genuinely joins the discussion and helps everyone take part.
The host asks follow-up questions and helps the group move beyond short answers.
Quieter members are invited in naturally, while more talkative members are gently balanced.
You hear how a native speaker naturally explains an idea, reacts to another person and asks follow-up questions.
If a question or expression is unclear, the host can repeat it, explain it in simpler Mandarin or give a short example—without stopping the whole conversation for a grammar lesson.
Learners still do most of the speaking.
With only 2–4 learners, everyone has meaningful opportunities to speak and respond.
You stay with the same people from beginning to end. There is no random reshuffling halfway through the conversation.
Each session focuses on a topic with enough depth for personal stories, different opinions and natural follow-up questions.
There is no fixed curriculum, grammar lecture, textbook progression or homework. You may prepare a few ideas before joining, but the purpose is not to perform a perfect answer—it is to listen, respond and use Mandarin with other people.
You may learn new expressions along the way, but the topic—not a language lesson—is the centre of the session.

Cameras are encouraged because seeing one another makes a small-group conversation feel more natural and connected. We understand that some members may occasionally need to participate by audio only.
Conversations are confirmed when at least two learners have booked. If a conversation has not reached two learners 12 hours before the start time, it will be canceled automatically.
Credits come straight back. Any conversation credit used will be returned.
Your free conversation stays free. If it was your free conversation, your free-conversation eligibility will be restored.
The host may clarify or naturally rephrase something when it helps the conversation, but you will not be interrupted for every grammar or pronunciation mistake.
Speaking time depends on the group and topic, but the host makes sure everyone has opportunities to contribute. Learners collectively do most of the speaking.
You stay with the same group for the full 60-minute conversation. Members may vary between different weekly conversations.
No preparation is required. Some learners only scan the topic, while others prefer to think about one or two questions and bring a few notes. Both approaches are welcome.
Yes. You are welcome to bring a few keywords, useful expressions or short notes, especially if they help you feel more confident. Try not to write a complete script, because the conversation may develop in a different direction.
Ask the host to repeat it, explain it in simpler Mandarin or give an example. Before the conversation, we also explain any expressions in the core questions that may be difficult to understand from their literal meaning alone.
